Ventura Velo sponsored the BIKE 2 WORK table @ the V.C. Government Center. About 50 people stopped by to visit, including a number with bikes on the VISTA BUS. Team Ventura Velo members made appearances & Thanks for filling out the County Cycling questionnaire for FREE Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. There were so many takers, we had to copy more to keep up with the demand!

 

Many Thanks to Tren Morris, Assistant Mgr. of TREK Bikes Ventura for covering the table down @ Ventura City Hall & for always faithfully bringing his bike tools along! Lots of folks left happily with County Bike Maps, Invites to 3Harbors Tour (07/07/07), energy bars and waterbottles.

 

Volunteers helped folks find friendly routes from home on the maps, dispensed sage rider advice & handed out Vista Free Ride/Bike passes too. If you were busy this year, join us next year to get the word out about the great advantages of Ventura Cycling.

Congratulations to our grand prize winners. Each won apparel donated by Patagonia. Participants received special commemorative 2007 Bike to Work water bottles from Open Air Bicycles in Ventura, award certificates from Carl’s Jr, and Clif Bars. Most important, however, was the satisfaction experienced from commuting to work using your own power, reducing the need for foreign oil and helping reduce air pollution and global warming.

BIKE TO WORK CHALLENGE

A couple weeks ago one of our fabulous counselors offered a challenge to our staff… Thank you to the staff, who gave up the luxury of their cars, donned helmets and lycra, and joined the Bike To Work Challenge with the banner flowing in the wind: If you rode your bike and didn’t make it to the meet-up point – Thank You too! Your contribution helped reduce the amount of air pollution in our beautiful city on May 17, 2007. Special recognition to Bill’s Bike Shop for contributing FREE goodies, Clif bars and more! We appreciate their support-Thank You!
