Fly the flag for health
The Air Quality Flag Program alerts organizations to the local air quality forecast and helps them to take actions to protect people’s health, including those with asthma.
Here's how it works: Each morning, your organization raises a flag that corresponds to how clean or polluted the air is that day. The color of the flag matches EPA's Air Quality Index (AQI), either green, yellow, orange, red or purple.
On unhealthy days, your organization can use this information to adjust physical activities to help reduce exposure to air pollution, while still keeping people active.
Order flags through the EPA link at the right. Keep track of air quality by visiting the Air Quality Forecast & Agricultural Burn Status page, signing up for daily email notifications or calling the recorded message line at 805-303-3888. For questions, contact Public Information Officer Karin Grennan at karin@vcapcd.org or 805-303-4002.
