Federal regulations require state and local agencies that conduct ambient air monitoring for regulatory purposes to submit an Annual Monitoring Network Report. The report must contain specific monitoring network information and be available for a 30-day public inspection period prior to submittal to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The most recent Ventura County information that meets the requirements specified in Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 58.10 (40 CFR 58.10) about ambient air monitoring can be found in a report compiled by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The most recent Annual Monitoring Network Plan is available on CARB's website.
This report covers the monitoring network for 25 of the 32 air districts within the CARB Primary Quality Assurance Organization (PQAO). A PQAO is the umbrella under which agencies are organized to ensure that monitoring is conducted according to a common set of procedures, using common calibration facilities and standards, with oversight by one air quality organization. CARB compiled the Ventura County portion of the Annual Monitoring Network Report with input from, and review by, the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District.
