Agenda includes Compliance team awards

The agenda for the Ventura County Air Pollution Control Board meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 9, includes the following:

CAR BUYBACK: The board will consider adding $100,000 to the Old Car Buyback Program funds. Interest in the program increased dramatically after payments doubled to $2,000 and six additional eligible model years were added in July, nearly depleting available funding. The additional money will enable the district to remove another 45 older vehicles from the road to reduce air pollution.

RULE CALENDAR: The board will consider the district’s proposed 2026 Rule Development Calendar. Items tentatively scheduled for consideration include proposed new rules on legal liability related to permitted sources, emission banking for agricultural pump engines and composting operations.

SERVICE AWARDS: Steve Bova and Keith Macias will be honored. Bova has worked for the district for 35 years and recently received the Rodney Swartzendruber Outstanding Inspector Award from the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association Enforcement Managers Committee. Macias served as Compliance Manager from 2019 until his recent retirement.

The meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Ventura County Board of Supervisors Hearing Room at 800 S. Victoria Ave. in Ventura and livestreamed.
